Introduce Yourself
Hello everyone!!
I am Rosheen Naeem from Pakistan. I am a software engineer and currently working as an Outreachy intern’21. This is my first blog. I used to write my own thoughts just to keep myself motivated but now I am getting a chance to share a positive word with you all. I am quite happy and excited to start this journey of blogging. Thanks to Outreachy!
My Three Core Values

I like to set new goals and work constantly for them. I think growth is a continuous process to achieve new goals. It involves building your own dreams, and always working on yourself to become a better person. Your competition is with your old self, not with others.
“Don’t dream your life, live your dream”.
It is what makes you live a little more and do good for others. Moreover, the little elements, like setting new goals, and working hard to achieve them are the evidence of your true living.
2. Determination
I think determination is the most important thing to achieve your goals. The more passionate you are, the more strongly you will face the obstacles in the way. Every time I got stuck on something or faced a new bug, it was my determination that helped me to continue.
There would be so many points when you will feel like giving up but these are the exact points where you have to stand firm. This is the time when you will realize you are much more than you used to think of yourself.
3. Positive outlook ✨
One thing that I am grateful for is having a positive mindset. I practice positivity and try to be as much positive as I can in all situations. I think that everyone can do this, it’s just giving yourself some time to absorb the situation and see both sides of a picture.
My Outreachy Project
My Outreachy project is OpenFoodFacts, it is the Wikimedia of food 🥙🥗🍩. It helps people check the ingredients and nutrients of the food and making healthier food choices. I am working on the OpenFoodFacts server project to improve its code quality.
OpenFoodFacts is 9 years old and written in Perl, HTML, and JavaScript. JavaScript is my favorite language and it’s been more than 4 years since I am working in JavaScript. However, I was totally new to Perl when I started contributing to the project.
There are 2 to 3 major tasks that we are looking forward to completing in this internship.
